Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
A computerized telecommunications device used by customers of a financial institution to withdraw cash, get credit card advances, make deposits, check account balances, and more; a.k.a. Automated Bank Machine, cash machine, and Bankomat.
Bankomat
An ATM network in Europe. Also a common Russian term for ATM.
Color Screen
A type of ATM display that shows information in many colors,
Function Key
One of the metal keys on an ATM's keypad; used to enter data — a PIN or an amount, for example — into the ATM.
Intel Celeron Processor
A microprocessor introduced by Intel Corporation in 1998.
Intel Pentium 3 Processor
A microprocessor introduced by Intel in 1999.
Intel Pentium 4 Processor
A microprocessor introduced by Intel in 2000.
Kiosk
In this context, a booth that houses an ATM.
LCD
Liquid crystal display; a thin, flat surface that displays data; an LCD is made up of color or monochrome pixels arrayed in front of a light source or reflector.

Microprocessor
A complete computation component that is incorporated onto a single silicon chip; Intel Corporation introduced the first microprocessor, the Intel 4004, in 1971.
Microsoft Windows CE.Net
A Microsoft operating system that is embedded, along with special software, in an ATM.
Microsoft Windows XP
An operatiing system introduced by Microsoft in 2001 for use on home and business computers.
Monochrome
A type of ATM display that shows information in two colors, one for the background and another for the information you see.
NVRAM
Non-volatile random access memory, a kind of random access memory (RAM) that does not lose its information when the power is turned off.
Operating System
A computer program that runs a computer and all its other programs. Windows XP and Mac OS X are examples of operating systems.
RAM
Random access memory, the most common type of computer memory.
ROM
Read-only memory, computer memory that contains data that can be read, but not removed or modified.
SDRAM
Synchronous dynamic random access memory, a kind of solid state computer memory.
SRAM
Static random access memory, a kind of semiconductor memory that — unlike dynamic RAM (DRAM) — does not need to be periodically refreshed,
UL
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is an independent product safety certification organization that has been testing products and developing safety standards since 1894.
